What is That Place You Love?

A (fee-free) social platform for communication, interaction, and creativity on the theme of truth. The only truth you can control is the truth you tell. Gimme some.

Why you are here & how it works:

The goal of this project is to invite you to write about truth, lies, and the difference between them, to flex your writing muscles and refine your BS radar.

If you choose to subscribe, you’ll start receiving weekly updates in your inbox (check Spam & Promotions folders, too). New themes are announced on Fridays and the post for that theme goes live on Mondays. You can also log into the website to read the full archives and other posts as they are published.

Each Friday, I will propose a theme, in no particular order:

Faith, Efficacy, Theft, Appearance, Accountability, Reliability, Skill, Talent, Presence, Crime, Intimacy, Inclusion, Exclusion, Durability, Language, Credibility, Experience, Cheating, Academics, Valuation, Policy, Habit, Comfort, Adornment, Hubris, Ego, Distance, Instructions…

Each Monday I will share my anecdote of truth related to the week’s theme.

IN THE COMMENTS, you share your anecdote of truth in 200 words or less.

Why the word count?

We are more specific when we cut out the fluff and take ownership of our experiences by writing succinctly in the first-person.

AFTER YOU’VE POSTED, read the other posts in the comments and click the HEART icon. This alerts the writer you’ve posted & they can come back to read.

A few rules to keep things civilized and on track.

  1. No talk back, cross talk, shoulder stroking, or analysis. Anyone who shares does so with the freedom of not having someone else’s response in their head, especially if that response is “you’re so brave” or “you’re an asshole”.

  2. The heart icon is used to let the writer know you read their comment. It’s not a love-heart. If you’ve read someone’s comment, even if you have no opinion or don’t agree, give it a heart. Let them know they’ve been read. No crickets.

  3. Feel free to jump around to different themes throughout the year. There is no time limit on responding. Maybe you read something in June that comes to fruition as a post in September. Go for it!

  4. Everything shared is proprietary to the person who wrote it. Be inspired but don’t steal ideas! The cross-platform function is off to protect us.

  5. Please use anything you generate here for larger works of nonfiction, flash, or even fiction.

I hope you decide to subscribe and participate!

The only truth you can control is the truth you tell.

Gimme some.
